Hilma Tabi Mittens Hilma Atelier

Hilma Atelier is proud to reintroduce the Hilma Tabi Mittens for the second year in a row. Hand-knitted in Iceland from premium merino wool and a luxurious mohair-silk blend, each pair is made with carefully selected natural fibres.

Inspired by the traditional Japanese tabi, which dates back to 15th-century Japan, the distinctive split-toe silhouette has long been appreciated for its unique aesthetic. At Hilma, our fascination goes beyond its appearance. We love the way the shape sits on the hand, offering a distinctive fit while allowing for natural movement and comfort.

Each pair is knitted entirely by hand, requiring many hours of skilled craftsmanship. The merino wool provides natural warmth, breathability and softness, while the mohair-silk blend adds a delicate, fluffy texture and an extra layer of insulation. With wear, the natural wool fibres gradually felt together, creating a denser surface that offers increased resistance to wind and light snow.

Made to last, designed to be cared for. We believe in creating pieces worth keeping, rather than replacing. To extend the life of each pair, we offer one complimentary repair whenever needed. We see repair as a natural part of owning something well made. (Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility.)

Choosing a handcrafted piece is an investment. Each pair reflects the time, carefully selected materials and craftsmanship that go into its making. We believe in taking the time to create things well, prioritising quality and longevity over mass production.

Made for the colder days ahead, the Hilma Tabi Mittens are designed to be worn, loved and kept for years to come.
